🖼 Exhibition Title & Introduction
Kohei Arano Solo Exhibition “glow of a day”|Where Nihonga Meets Street Culture – Now on View in Tokyo
A remarkable solo exhibition by Kohei Arano, who fuses traditional Japanese painting (nihonga) with street culture to create contemporary artworks, is now on view at Gallery Seek in Tokyo.
Running from April 25 (Fri) to May 10 (Sat), 2025, this exhibition, titled “glow of a day,” showcases six powerful pieces that explore themes of memory, light, and time. Arano’s work reflects a deep respect for traditional techniques while boldly engaging with contemporary visual culture such as skateboarding, hip hop, and manga.
🔦 Concept – Light and Memory in 6 Works
The title “glow of a day” evokes the ephemeral feeling of light seen through closed eyelids—an abstract yet intimate image of everyday moments.
This exhibition features six carefully selected works from Arano’s major series, including Eternity and a Day, Greatest of All Time, and Science Fiction. Using materials such as copper foil, washi paper, and gofun (shell white), the works shift in appearance depending on the viewer’s position and the light, creating a meditative experience of impermanence and transformation.
🧑🎨 Artist Profile – Kohei Arano
