Photo Glitch Artist Akira Terada opens his solo exhibition THE GLITCH -Assemblage- on May 23 (Sat), 2026 at Gallery Seek (Caretta Shiodome B1F, Tokyo). The exhibition runs through May 30 (Sat). The artist will be present on May 23 and 24.
Terada’s method is austere by design. Working from a single photograph, he applies only the most elementary Photoshop operations — selection, rotation, flip, distortion, and layering — refusing both AI generation and 3DCG. From these limited gestures emerges a quiet dismantling of what we never thought to question: the up and down, the front and back, the gravity of the city.
Born in Osaka in 1996, Terada holds a master’s degree in architectural design from Kindai University and previously worked at an architectural firm. In 2023 he received the inaugural digital-artist Gallery Seek Award at the 3rd ARTIST NEW GATE. He has since exhibited at ART FAIR TOKYO 2024 and Osaka Art & Design 2025, with features in designboom and Adobe Creative Cloud JP.
The exhibition centers on the new work 1084 “ACROBAT” (acrylic panel, UV print, 420×503.6mm, 2025) — a body suspended in midair while the sky folds itself behind the buildings. Three gestures, and the city loses its weight.
