On May 23, 2026, Gallery Seek (Caretta Shiodome B1F, Tokyo) hosted a collaboration between Photo Glitch Artist Akira Terada and Haruna Le Café — a session that collapsed the distance between seeing and tasting.
Projectors rewrote the gallery’s walls with Akira Terada’s GLITCH universe: photographs deconstructed through selection, rotation, inversion, distortion, and stratification, now radiating across every surface. Visitors stood inside that refracted landscape and raised glasses of Haruna Le Café’s tea sparkling — a non-alcoholic line born from Le Café’s philosophy of experiencing tea with all five senses.
Two varieties were offered. A green tea sparkling pairing deep-steamed Shizuoka green tea with Chardonnay juice, and a black tea sparkling weaving Darjeeling leaves with the bright citrus of bergamot. As the fine carbonation met the tongue, it synchronized with the rotating, inverting, layering imagery overhead. Taste and scent ceased to be separate from sight; together they formed a single bodily passage into the conceptual core of Terada’s practice — the reversal, distortion, and accumulation of phenomena.
Akira Terada, born 1996 in Osaka, works exclusively from a single photograph, subjecting it to his proprietary process of area-selection, rotation, inversion, distortion, and stratification to output the hidden reverse side of the world — what he calls GLITCH. His accolades include the first-ever digital art prize at the 3rd ARTIST NEW GATE, ANA GranWhale NFT, the New York Times Square billboard, Casa Milà, and ART FAIR TOKYO.
The convergence of Le Café’s sensory philosophy with Terada’s method of visual deconstruction revealed something worth considering: when the eye is displaced, does taste sharpen or dissolve? Only the body present in that space holds the answer.
