Nichirinbo -Boy of the Sun-

About this work

A bronze in which a rounded doji carries the sun disc on its back. Gold leaf is applied to the surface, and a soft brightness arises according to the angle of the light. The sense of form developed through yosegi joined-wood construction and the study of restoring and reconstructing Buddhist sculpture is transferred into bronze casting, and the mass of traditional Buddhist sculpture lives on in the full cheeks and the light movement. A work of 2024 in the line of doji figures under the banner of yamatojikara.
