憂華

About this work

An F10 work depicting a peony that bloomed at the artist's home in spring. On kumohada hemp paper in mineral pigments and glue, the grain of the mineral colors captures the ample volume of the many-layered petals and the grace particular to the peony. As the title 'Yūka (Melancholy Flower)' suggests, it renders even the shadow and transience hidden behind the splendor within a serene image.
