About this work

A compact panel measuring 18 × 18 cm presents flowers floating on water, viewed from directly above. Oil-painted petals drift amid shifting blue tones that suggest the subtle movement of a water surface. Part of the 'Kien no Hana' series, the composition preserves the chance arrangement of blossoms set afloat, fixing an unrepeatable moment onto the panel. The contained scale concentrates the viewer's attention on each deliberate brushstroke and the quiet tension between control and contingency.
