Family

About this work

Rendered in pigment on paper, this work presents the theme of "family" through the intimate proximity of animal figures drawn closely together. The layered coloring, achieved by repeated application and selective removal of pigment, lends the surface a tactile depth that registers the sustained observation at the core of the artist's practice. Rather than sentimentalizing its subject, the painting locates tenderness in posture and spatial closeness, extending a longstanding inquiry into the quiet mysteries embedded in living creatures.
