Wired Cloisonné Lidded Box: Star Gazing Grass

About this work

A compact lidded vessel in cloisonné enamel over pure silver and copper. The title "Hoshimigusa" is a classical alias for cherry blossoms, and the floral motif rendered in silver wire threads continuously across the curved surface. By deliberately limiting the polishing stage, the raised wire catches light and casts fine shadows, while translucent glazes allow the metallic ground to show through. The artist's integrated process—from raising the metal body to wire-setting and repeated kiln firings—ensures a precise fit between lid and base.
