About this work
One of the Comp.Expansion series by Sizzle, who applies to painting such concepts from cognitive science as the image schema and unconscious projection. Grounds of gesso and modelling paste form material thickness and relief on the panel, and acrylic is worked over them with a painting knife. A picture that keeps out any specific motif prompts the generation of meaning according to each viewer's bodily sense and memory, working as a place where visual information is converted into an individual "phenomenon".
