Built on kumo-hada hemp paper, layers of mineral pigments and wash pigments accumulate to render the still atmosphere of a waterside scene through subtle tonal gradations. The pared-down composition foregrounds the interplay of light and moisture hovering between the water's surface and surrounding vegetation. Rooted in an ongoing inquiry into wind, light, and the quiet vitality of the natural world, the work distills the transparent presence of water into a moment of contemplative calm.
