About this work
Generated by layering operations onto a single photograph — selecting a region, rotating, reflecting, distorting, layering — this work aims, as the title suggests, at a departure from the familiar landscape. An artist with a background in architectural design transforms a fragment of reality many times over, so that the original image, while breaking down, acquires a new structure. The transparency and colour of UV printing onto an acrylic panel fix the traces of digital operation as matter, giving the picture depth and a hard presence.
