Light Through the Ginkgo Tree

About this work

Sunlight filters through ginkgo leaves and branches, building layered contrasts of warm gold and cool shadow within a compact canvas. The oil paint is applied in swift, accumulative strokes that trace shifting light conditions on site, capturing subtle transitions in color temperature as light passes through foliage. Rooted in plein-air practice, the work distills the sensory immediacy—warmth, atmosphere, the passage of time—that the artist considers irreplaceable by photographic reference, condensing that lived experience into a concentrated field of luminous color.
