About this work
Mineral pigments layered on kumohada-mashi paper render a glossy-leaved branch within a compact circular format. The granular texture of the pigments captures the sheen and translucency of evergreen foliage, shifting subtly with ambient light. The circle's edge functions as a threshold, drawing the viewer's gaze inward toward a self-contained natural vignette—an approach consistent with the artist's ongoing series that frames botanical and avian subjects inside the bounded space of the ring.
