About this work

Mineral pigments settle into the soft, fibrous surface of kumohada-mashi paper, capturing the shifting light and color of an underwater world. Within this intimate scale, aquatic movement and luminous tremor merge into a single, buoyant space. The work draws on a sustained engagement with water as subject—its formlessness rendered tangible through the granular physicality of traditional Japanese painting materials. A quiet sense of weightless drift pervades the composition, true to the title's evocation of free-swimming suspension.
