Flower of Fate -ver.red-

About this work

A work from the 'Flowers of Serendipity' series, capturing flowers set adrift on water from directly above. On a square W18×H18 cm panel in oil, red-keyed blooms are condensed at the moment they sway on the surface. Nakajima adopts the chance arrangement of floating flowers as his composition, fixing a one-time beauty beyond contrivance; the overhead viewpoint departs from ordinary sight, transforming the border of flower and water into an abstract field of color. Small in scale, it holds densely the crossing of chance and necessity at the series' core.
