Apple

About this work

An apple emerges from a meticulously prepared ground of roughly twenty layered and sanded gesso coats on panel. Drawn with pencils ranging from 10H to 10B, the fruit's volume and subtle tonal shifts are rendered with precision, while generous blank space surrounds the motif, suspending it in quiet tension. The interplay between detailed depiction and open field distills the artist's sustained inquiry into the threshold where object and space converge.
