About this work

Layered applications of acrylic and oil paint on cotton-mounted panel submerge a figure within overlapping fields of color. The surface carries a pronounced material presence—ridges, pooled pigment, and deliberate smoothness—resulting from repeated cycles of painting, obliteration, and reconstruction. Part of the ongoing MEISAI series, the work renders the ambivalence of blending into one's surroundings: the unease of disappearing and the comfort of belonging, held in tension through an intentionally indeterminate expression and merging chromatic planes.
