Within a square format, a figure dissolves into overlapping veils of color, its expression deliberately left ambiguous. Layers of acrylic, oil, and tempera on cotton-mounted panel build a tactile surface shaped by repeated cycles of painting, disruption, and reconstruction. The resulting topography of opaque and translucent passages holds the tension central to the MEISAI series—the simultaneous unease and comfort of blending into one's surroundings—inviting viewers to decide for themselves whether the figure seeks refuge or struggles to emerge.
