About this work
This woodblock print transposes Bridolly—a wind-up tin bird that cannot fly yet keeps jumping—into the iconic composition of Hokusai's "The Great Wave off Kanagawa." Graduated indigo tones, white-capped crests, and a distant Mount Fuji retain the chromatic structure of the original ukiyo-e, while the small mechanical bird leaping amid the surging waves introduces a narrative of perseverance within constraint, bridging the artist's character-driven practice with the lineage of classical Japanese printmaking.
