About this work
A figure emerges faintly within layered fields of cool and warm hues that merge and interrupt one another. Built on cotton-covered panel, the surface accumulates multiple strata of acrylic, oil, and tempera—each pass involving deliberate disruption with opaque pigment to introduce chance before reconstruction. The resulting texture juxtaposes the rigid skin of acrylic with the viscous body of oil and tempera. Neither fully absorbed into nor separated from the surrounding color, the figure holds the viewer between the comfort and unease of blending in.
