Built on a cotton-on-panel support, the painting layers opaque passages with transparent glazes across multiple stages, lending tangible depth to each strand of fur and a luminous intensity to the eyes. Based on direct observation of a living cat named Miyabi at a specialist cat café in Himeji, the work distills its subject through careful spatial editing rather than literal transcription.
