Takuma Kaneko Profile 1980 Born in Saitama Prefecture Graduated with a major in art from Thiel College, Pennsylvania 2006, 2008 Studied oil painting in the summer at The Florence Academy, Italy 2007 Studied under the painter Tetsuya Mishima Research Prize, Shinkozo Exhibition 2009, 2010 Studied in the summer under the landscape painter Marc Dalessio 2009, 2010 Finalist, landscape category, ARC (Art Renewal Center) International Salon 2011 Finalist, landscape category, Artist's Magazine 28th Annual Art Competition Comment Travelling through places I do not know, when I am fortunate enough to meet a fine view, I set up the easel, open the canvas and keep painting as long as time allows; that becomes the source of the work. Feeling in my own body the many sensations that change within flowing time — the weather, the sounds, the smells — is something film and photography can never give, and I believe the work is completed by painting those through a filter of my own. I would be glad if those who see my paintings felt something of that from the picture.
