STATEMENT
MEISAI is a new series Yonemura has worked on in recent years. The figures buried among many colours — the mark of the series — express people of our time, tossed about by the information and the values that flood the world, holding the ambivalence between the unease of being buried in one's surroundings and the security that being buried there brings. MEISAI is also a series in which he has placed his attention on the physical presence of the work itself. By bringing forward the unevenness of the surface, a matière made deliberately smooth, and the viscous quality that paint holds, he finds a beauty on a vector separate from what is depicted.
