STATEMENT

"As though there were a sea above the sky." "Sitting on the wall of a building, looking up at the ground with the sky to one side." "You to me, and I to you." Since childhood I have been drawn to things like the reversal, distortion and change of events and of the world, and I named the world I had been imagining GLITCH. To express that world, I make my work on the model of a GAME. I choose a single photograph — a fragment of the world recorded at some time, in some place, by someone — as a STAGE. That STAGE is then expressed through the method of selecting a region, then rotating, reflecting, distorting and layering: PLAY. The work created and expressed through PLAY, the CLEAR SCREEN, is what I send out into the world.

Akira Terada Born 1996 in Osaka. After completing a master's in architectural design at the Graduate School of Science and Engineering Research, Kindai University, worked at an architectural design firm.
