Yu Uchida Solo Exhibition "POP-UP COUNTER" — Closed. Thank You for Visiting | Gallery Seek

Yu Uchida's solo exhibition "POP-UP COUNTER" at Gallery Seek (Caretta Shiodome B1F) has now closed after a successful nine-day run from June 5 to June 13, 2026.
We are deeply grateful to all visitors who came to experience this thoughtful and vibrant exhibition.
■ About the Exhibition
"POP-UP COUNTER" embedded sharp social commentary within a deceptively cheerful, colorful space. The title carries a double meaning: "POP-UP" evokes the excitement of a limited-time pop-up shop and the playful fizz of sparkling drinks, while "COUNTER" refers simultaneously to a bar counter and a counter-argument against mass consumerism and environmental destruction.
■ The 《cool it》 Series
Uchida's iconic glass-cast sculptures depict polar bears—symbols of climate crisis—in the form of melting ice candy. By packaging ecological urgency within the aesthetic language of "kawaii" Japanese consumer goods, the works expose the contradiction between knowing and not acting. The title says it plainly: cool it.
■ The 《fruit bowl》 Series
Drawing from 19th-century Divisionism color theory, these punched-metal sculptures use geometric perforations as a physical form of division. As viewers move, the light and shadow reconstruct in the mind—a quiet experiment in perception.
Thank you to all who visited, to our sponsor HARUNA, and to Yu Uchida for this unforgettable exhibition.
